Macquarie Pass National Park
With terrific bushwalking and birdwatching opportunities, wonderful waterfalls, views to the ocean and the blazing crimson of Illawarra flame trees, Macquarie Pass National Park is well worth a visit if you're looking for things to do on the south coast.
Reddall Reserve
Here children can paddle, swim and play in safety and there are plenty of picnic and barbecue facilities, kiosk and toilets. The Pelican Park playground is a dynamic place for kids to play that was designed with wheelchair access in mind for children with disabilities.
Myimbarr Fields
Myimbarr Community Park is a unique combination of top-level sporting facilities and beautiful environmental areas, including a substantial wetland and bird habitat. It's also a great place for a casual stroll.
Illawarra Grevillea Park
The Illawarra Grevillea Park is arguably the best of its kind in Australia. Just walking through the gates invites a feeling of getting back to nature. Set against the backdrop of the stunning Illawarra escarpment, and with views to the ocean this is a plant lover's paradise. At every turn there is something unique to see. It has the quality of a botanic gardens, displaying the rare and the beautiful. And then there is the rainforest, the birds and so much more.

Wentworth Cottage Park
The park is of heritage significance in that it was the site of Wentworth Cottage, the home of one of Shellharbour City’s most well known pioneering families.
Blackbutt Forest Reserve
Blackbutt Reserve is the largest natural bushland reserve in the Illawarra, covering 250 acres. The Reserve is a key feature of Shellharbour and is the last remaining viable remnant of coastal plain forest in the Illawarra.
Bass Point Reserve
Bass Point Reserve is located just south of Shellharbour Village. This significant headland features one of the few diverse littoral rainforests in the Illawarra Region, a large collection of significant Aboriginal and European heritage sites and extensive marine habitats.
